Update: Pickup driver who pulled driver over in Loomis determined to be law enforcement

Police tape at crime scene

Authorities who had sought to identify a man who used an unmarked pickup truck to pull over a driver last week in Loomis ultimately determined the man was, in fact, a law enforcement officer.

A dark-colored, four-door Nissan Frontier with red-and-blue lights pulled over another motorist around 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Loomis, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in an initial Facebook post Tuesday.

“The driver didn’t identify himself,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote, but was a man wearing a dark green law enforcement uniform.

“The motorist was unable to identify the agency’s uniform,” the post continued. Placer deputies’ uniforms are olive green.

But in an update Tuesday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office wrote that it “identified the law enforcement agency associated with the traffic stop.” Sheriff’s officials did not name the agency.

The Sheriff’s Office posted surveillance video showing the vehicle shortly before the traffic stop. Authorities described the Nissan as having a black toolbox in its back and no markings.
