Police tape at crime scene

A suspect is sought after a convenience store clerk was shot and critically wounded Tuesday night in Dixon, police said.

A male called 911 just after 10:20 p.m. reporting he had been shot at the 7-Eleven located at 1075 N. 1st St., the Dixon Police Department said in a Wednesday morning news release.

Police responded and located the clerk, who was taken to a hospital and is in critical condition, according to the news release.

Detectives are investigating the shooting and believe the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan.

“Additional details will be forthcoming,” the Police Department wrote.
