Man hospitalized with serious injuries after apparent fight on K Street in Sacramento

Police tape at crime scene

One person was seriously injured Wednesday night in an apparent fight between two people in downtown Sacramento, police said.

Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. to a reported assault on K Street between 10th and 11th streets, Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Ryan Woo said.

A man located at the scene was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

“Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries, detectives responded to take over the investigation,” Woo said.

Woo said the other involved party in the incident returned to the scene and spoke with detectives.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears this altercation occurred after a disturbance between two individuals,” Woo said.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and will work with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed, Woo said.

The involved stretch of K Street, which includes the Crest Theatre and several bars and clubs, was closed for a few hours into Thursday morning as officers and detectives remained at the scene.
