Police on Friday evening took into custody a person who they say refused for hours to come out of a North Sacramento home after a reported disturbance.

The incident began Friday morning in the 3600 block of Altos Avenue, near South Avenue in the West Del Paso Heights neighborhood. Officers responded to the home for a reported disturbance, and the suspect refused to come out, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Police said a nearby school, as a precaution, was advised of the situation as officers continued to try to persuade the suspect to come out of the home.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the Police Department announced on social media that traffic was closed in all directions near Altos and South avenues as officers conducted an investigation. The department asked drivers to avoid the area.

Police said the suspect left the home about 5 p.m., surrendering without further incident. The suspect was arrested on charges of assault and making criminal threats.

At that time, police announced on social media that roads in that area had reopened to traffic. Police said there were no injuries reported.

The Police Department did not release any further details, including the suspect’s name or age.
