Multiple people detained after deadly shooting at Sacramento apartment complex

A man was killed and multiple people were detained following a shooting Wednesday evening in Sacramento’s Village 5 neighborhood, near Natomas Park, police said.

Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 4500 block of Truxel Road, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release, which is the location of the Granite Point apartment complex.

A man was located at the complex with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene by Sacramento Fire Department personnel, according to the news release.

Police detained “multiple subjects” at the scene in connection with the shooting, the department said.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting and surrounding circumstances, and no suspects have been publicly identified.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
