Man dies after being shot near Sacramento Executive Airport, police say

A man was shot and killed Monday evening in a neighborhood near Sacramento Executive Airport, authorities said.

Police responded around 8:15 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 5900 block of 24th Street, just east of the airport and west of the Brentwood area, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release.

Officers located a man with at least one gunshot wound who was transported by Sacramento Fire Department personnel to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the news release.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting. No suspect information has been released.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.
