3 arrested at Placer County residence littered with drugs in reach of kids, deputies say
Three men were arrested last month in Placer County on numerous charges, including child endangerment for two of the men, after deputies discovered “deplorable” conditions and drug paraphernalia in plain view while serving a warrant at a Foresthill motor home.
Deputies and probation officers served the warrant Feb. 19 and located “a room full of syringes, dozens of used pieces of tin foil with heroin residue, marijuana, and smoking pipes in plain view,” the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
Investigators determined two young children were living in the home, according to the post.
“Living conditions inside the home were deplorable with moldy food, feces, urine, and garbage strewn around,” sheriff’s officials wrote.
Photos posted by the Sheriff’s Office showed a floor covered in food waste and other garbage.
Authorities also determined “several” stolen vehicles and trailers at the property.
Daniel Pierce, 39, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, firearms related charges and outstanding warrants, which jail booking records show were for DUI charges in Placer County as well as misdemeanor drug charges out of Sutter County.
Two other residents, 59-year-old John Atchley and 26-year-old Terrance Atchley, were arrested on charges of child endangerment. John Atchley also faces a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, and Terrance Atchley had a warrant for a felony burglary charge.
All three men were booked into the Placer County Main Jail in Auburn.
The Atchleys’ relation to the two young children was not specified. The Sheriff’s Office said the children are now safe.
