Man turns himself in to police after shooting inside mother’s Woodland home

A man turned himself in Friday morning two hours after police said he broke into his mother’s Woodland residence and opened fire.

In a Facebook post, the Woodland Police Department said they received a call from the suspect’s mother around 8 a.m. from a home on the 2600 block of Ortiz Avenue. Dispatchers heard gunshots during the call.

The suspect’s mother fled to safety inside her residence and once officers arrived, they safely removed everyone from inside the home. No one inside was injured, according to police.

Police said the adult male suspect in his 20s was still believed to be armed so officers continued to ask people to stay out of the area.

About two hours later, the suspect turned himself in to the police and the gun was located.

The incident is still under investigation.
