Elk Grove police seek man suspected of robbing credit union
Elk Grove police are asking the public’s help in finding a man suspected of committing armed robbery at the Schools Financial Credit Union on Tuesday afternoon.
The robbery occurred about 3:45 p.m. when a man entered the credit union at 8255 Laguna Blvd. and approached a teller. The man demanded money, then brandished a handgun at the teller, according to a Police Department news release. The employee, fearing for her safety, complied with the man’s demands.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the man left the bank and was last seen walking away from the location, heading southbound, police said.
The robber, shown in surveillance photos, is described as approximately 40 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a gray caddy cap, black-framed glasses, a gray shirt and khaki pants.
Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department’s detective bureau at 916-478-8060 or Crime Alert at 916-443-4357. Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Tips also can be sent via SMS text message by entering 274637 on a cellphone, followed by Tip732 and the message.
