Teen on life support, struck in hit-and-run while walking dog in Northern California
A 16-year-old girl from Galt is hospitalized and on life support after being struck in a hit-and-run Monday night.
The Galt Police Department received a 911 call forwarded from the California Highway Patrol just before 11 p.m. reporting a girl lying in the roadway on Ayers Lane, a residential street just east of Highway 99.
Officers located the teen in the westbound lane of Ayers Lane near Trellis Lane, the Police Department said in a news release.
The victim was “bleeding from the head,” police wrote, and Cosumnes Fire Department personnel transported her to a hospital.
“The victim is currently on life support,” the Police Department wrote.
Investigators determined the girl was walking her dog when she was hit by a vehicle, which then fled the scene.
No suspect or suspect vehicle information was immediately available.
The Galt Police Department asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Mark Fewel at 209-366-7005.
