Roadway fatality
Folsom Police Department is closing down Rainbow Bridge for several hours as they investigate a fatal overnight crash that left one person dead. Hard road closures will be at Riley Street and Scott Street, and Folsom Boulevard and Greenback Lane, according to Folsom Police Department.

Rainbow Bridge in Folsom is closed in both directions, following a fatal crash that left one person dead.

At 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Folsom police responded to a report of a solo vehicle collision on northbound Greenback Lane, near Rainbow Bridge in Folsom, said Andrew Graham, public information officer for Folsom Police Department.

Officers located the vehicle about 100 to 150 feet down the embankment. The driver, who was the only person in the car at the time, was pronounced dead on scene.

Folsom Police Department’s major accident response team is currently investigating the cause of the crash. Rainbow Bridge will be closed in both directions in the meantime, with hard road closures at Riley Street and Scott Street, and Folsom Boulevard and Greenback Lane, Graham said.

The roads are expected to be closed for several hours.

Graham said early investigations show that the crash happened sometime overnight. There are no witnesses of the collision. He said a passerby who was at the bike trails underneath Rainbow Bridge was the initial caller who reported the incident.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Megan Leanne Ramirez, 28, of Orangevale.
