Elk Grove man, 23, killed in shooting outside Bay Area strip mall, authorities say

An Elk Grove man has been identified as the victim of a deadly shooting Saturday in San Jose.

Police responded around 7:15 a.m. to reports of a person down in the 1900 block of Aborn Road, a strip mall just off Highway 101, the San Jose Police Department said in a news release.

Officers located a man with a gunshot injury who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

The victim has been identified by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office as 23-year-old Tommy Chac, of Elk Grove. Chac died in the parking lot of a business, according to coroner’s records.

Police said the suspect was “unidentified and remains at large.”
