Man killed in Elk Grove shooting. Police say a party at an Airbnb had been going on
A man was shot and killed early Saturday during a party at an Airbnb rental home in the 7400 block of Brandamore Court in Elk Grove, according to police.
The 18-year-old victim, who has not been identified, died despite life-saving efforts, the Elk Grove Police Department stated in a news release. The shooting occurred about 2 a.m.
While most were gone when police arrived, according to the news release, about 10 to 15 people were believed to have been at the house during the party.
A spokesman for Airbnb said the company is working with Elk Grove investigators, and has deactivated the listing and removed the booking guest from the platform.
“We are deeply saddened by the events that took place here last night,” the company said in a statement. “Airbnb bans parties and we take these reports very seriously and have opened an investigation.”
Police say that they are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. They say neither a suspect nor a motive has been identified.
