Man arrested for DUI, manslaughter in Highway 50 crash killing Pollock Pines woman
A Cameron Park man was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of DUI and manslaughter following a crash that killed a motorcycle passenger and seriously injured the motorcyclist, Placerville police said.
Police responded around 6:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a crash on eastbound Highway 50 near Broadway between a Jeep Cherokee and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, the Placerville Police Department said in a Monday news release.
Arriving officers located the two occupants of the motorcycle down in the roadway.
The motorcycle passenger, identified as 60-year-old Lori Hooper of Pollock Pines, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle driver had major injuries and was flown by helicopter to a hospital, police said.
The Jeep driver, 47-year-old Aaron Folmsbee of Cameron Park, remained at the scene, where arriving officers determined him to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to the news release.
Folmsbee was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Main Jail in Placerville on charges of DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, the Police Department said.
He has since been released on $175,000 bail, jail records show.
