Donald Michael Black, a 23-year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, was arrested while on duty Sept. 24, 2013.

Black, 44, is charged with five felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years old, as well as four misdemeanor counts of unauthorized possession of anabolic steroids. He was booked into Nevada County Jail and released after posting $100,000 bail.

According to Nevada County Superior Court online records, a preliminary hearing in the case is set for Oct. 13.

Black was not on duty at the time of the alleged abuse, authorities said. The Nevada County District Attorney’s Office, in a news release issued at the time charges were filed, said multiple acts allegedly occurred in 2006 and 2007 at Black’s home just outside the Grass Valley city limits.
