Police tape at crime scene

A Davis middle school was evacuated Tuesday as police investigated a bomb threat, authorities and school officials said.

Residents are asked to avoid Drexel Drive near J and L streets, as officers investigate a bomb threat at Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High School, Davis police wrote in a text message and email alert sent shortly before 2 p.m.

“Students and staff have been evacuated and are safe,” the Davis Police Department wrote.

A “written bomb threat” was found at the campus Tuesday, according to a statement posted to the Holmes Junior High website.

Students were taken to a nearby park for parent pickup, school officials said.

No other details were immediately available.
