Man killed in home invasion identified by Sacramento coroner

The Sacramento County Coroner’s office has released the name of the man killed Tuesday night in a home invasion shooting in a neighborhood near Highway 99 and Calvine Road.

The coroner’s website identified the dead man as Byron Darbonne, 45, of Sacramento.

He was killed around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday when two armed men entered a home in the 8200 block of Auberry Drive. The intruders, who were unknown to a female also in the house, shot Darbonne and then fled.

The female was able to flee out the back door of the home to safety.

When deputies arrived at the scene they first had to make sure nobody was still inside. Once they entered the home, they found Darbonne had died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives are working to determine a motive for the killing and a description of the killers. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at (916) 874-5115.
