A man who twice crashed into a patrol car before fleeing on foot was later found with the help of the deputies’ K-9, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were inside a patrol car late Friday when, they said, a man driving a cargo van hit them at Garfield and Locust avenues in Carmichael.

The deputies tried to pull over the van, but it drove away.

A low-speed chase began, but deputies lost sight of the van — only for it to return to the area and strike their car again, authorities said.

The van was chased into a field, where it crashed through a fence and into a home before the driver fled on foot, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The K-9 eventually found and bit the man, who was then taken into custody.

No deputies were injured.
