An El Dorado County corrections officer was arrested Tuesday by fellow deputies, suspected of being under the influence and in possession of methamphetamine upon arrival to work at the Placerville jail, sheriff’s officials said.

Anthony Horne, 29, arrived to work at the county’s main jail in Placerville when staff “developed suspicion Horne may have been under the influence of a controlled substance,” the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post late Tuesday.

Because Horne had driven to work, deputies initiated a DUI investigation and arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, the post said.

“During an arrest search of Horne, deputies located suspected methamphetamine on his person,” sheriff’s officials wrote.

Horne was booked into the Placerville jail on felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and bringing a controlled substance to a jail or prison facility, as well as misdemeanor charges of DUI and drug possession, jail booking logs show.

His bail is set at $50,000.

The Sheriff’s Office said its investigation remains ongoing, and that no other information is available.
