Sacramento deputies arrest fatal stabbing suspect; victim found in Arden Arcade home
Deputies announced they have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man who was stabbed Thursday morning inside an Arden Arcade home.
The deputies found the suspect, Thomas Dwayne Grant, 40, within blocks of the home where the victim, 53-year-old Dan Richard O’Riordan, was found, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday in a news release.
Grant on Friday remained in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he’s been held without bail since Thursday evening.
About 9:50 a.m. Thursday, dispatchers received a call from a resident at a home in the 1300 block of Rowena Way, just north of Hurley Way. Sheriff’s officials said the caller told dispatchers there was a man, later identified as O’Riordan, on the floor who was unresponsive and appeared dead.
Deputies arrived and found O’Riordan inside the home. Sheriff’s officials said O’Riordan was unresponsive and had suffered at least one stab wound. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District medics arrived and pronounced O’Riordan dead at the scene.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies later found Grant and arrested him on suspicion of homicide. Sheriff’s officials did not release any further details about the fatal stabbing or the arrest.
