One man dead after gunshots in East Del Paso Heights, Sacramento police say

One man is dead after an early morning shooting in the East Del Paso Heights section of North Sacramento.

Sacramento police responded to reports of a shooting at 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of North Avenue, the department said in a news release.

When officer arrived, they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound. An officer performed medical aid and called for paramedics from the Sacramento Fire Department.

Fire personnel later pronounced the man dead at the scene.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and the circumstances remain under investigation,” the department said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the victim after next of kin has been identified.
