More than 1,100 in Yolo County without power after downed power line sparked grass fire
Strong winds in rural parts of Yolo County are inhibiting efforts to restore power to Pacific Gas and Electric customers, after a downed power line near the town of Esparto sparked a small grass fire.
About 1,160 households in unincorporated west Yolo County — mostly along Highway 16 between Rumsey and Brooks, and north of Capay along County Road 85 — are still without power, according to PG&E estimates.
An estimated time for when power will be restored is “unknown under conditions,” Yolo County officials said in a statement posted on Twitter about 8:30 a.m. Friday.
The wind may cause additional outages, Yolo County officials stated.
The small grass fire near Esparto was sparked after a car crash led to a downed power line, according to Yocha Dehe Fire Department. There were no significant injuries, officials said, and firefighters quickly doused the flames.
