Court proceedings continued for Lyon as lawyers review evidence

Former Lyon Real Estate CEO Michael Lyon returned to court Tuesday on drug charges but had the matter continued until Oct. 30 while lawyers in the case review evidence that could send him to prison.

Lyon, 58, was arrested last week on a probation violation after he missed a meeting with Sacramento County probation officers and they went to his Arden area home, where they found methamphetamines and other drugs.

He and a companion, Shannon Lynn Campbell, 40, were arrested and jailed without bail. Both appeared briefly in court Tuesday, but neither spoke during their separate appearances.

Lyon, a former Boy Scout leader who was on probation after pleading guilty in 2011 to four counts of electronic eavesdropping, had his probation revoked Friday by Superior Court Judge Helena Gweon He now faces his original two-year prison sentence that was stayed in 2011 in favor of jail time, house arrest and probation.

Lyon’s attorney, William Portanova, said outside of court that he is reviewing evidence in the case.

“The investigation is continuing,” Portanova said. “The government is providing us with their reports slowly, and we have not yet received all of the police reports.

“We expect to have the full file by the end of next week, and until we do, we don’t know which way we are going to go on the case.”
