A person has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a Monday morning fire in downtown Sacramento.

The Sacramento Fire Department said crews were dispatched about 4 a.m. to the fire at a home under renovation at 12th Street and Tomato Alley in the Richmond Grove neighborhood. The home had been elevated by box cribbing, “making extinguishment difficult initially,” firefighters said in a social media post.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was knocked down in 20 minutes.

Fire Department spokesman Capt. Andrew Ramos said that an individual was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson. The Sacramento Police Department confirmed an arrest but did not name the individual.

“Crews had reports of someone on scene,” Ramos said. “They were stopped and interrogated and an arrest was made shortly after that.”
