Suspicious death in south Sacramento being investigated as homicide, police say

Detectives were investigating the suspicious death of a man as a homicide based on his injuries after he was found late Monday in a south Sacramento neighborhood.

About 10 p.m., officers were called to the 6400 block of Village Centre Drive for the reported suspicious death, the Sacramento Police Department announced Tuesday evening in a news release.

The Sacramento Fire Department had initially responded to a report of a dead man, but firefighters decided to call police for help after seeing the man’s injuries. The Police Department did not release any details about the man’s injuries.

Police said the man’s death was being investigated as a homicide based on the information known. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators took over the investigation.

The circumstances of the man’s death remained under investigation, and there was no suspect information to release on Tuesday, police said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name after his family has been notified.

Detectives asked anyone with information relevant to this investigation to call officers at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3 Tips website and app.
