El Dorado County man gets life in prison for killing his mother, brother in 2015 shooting
An El Dorado County man was sentenced to life in prison for shooting to death his mother and brother seven years ago at his home in a rural area south of Placerville, prosecutors said.
Milo Lloyd Wallace, 55, on June 20 was sentenced to two terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole for the shooting deaths of his mother, Sandra Wallace, 71, and his brother Matthew Wallace, 38, the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday in a Facebook post.
A jury on May 24 found Wallace guilty of two counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder of his sister-in-law, who was involved in a confrontation before the bodies were discovered. El Dorado Superior Court Judge Vicki Ashworth sentenced Wallace to an additional 67 years to life in prison for his conviction.
The double homicide occurred at the home Sandra Wallace owned in the 5400 block of Rocky Ridge Road in the Oak Hill area.
Brooke Warner, Matthew Wallace’s wife, called 911 about 5:15 p.m. on Nov. 11, 2015, to report the double homicide. She told dispatchers she was at the Rocky Ridge Road home with a man who had pulled a gun on her. Warner said she and her brother had detained the armed man but feared he had killed her husband, El Dorado County sheriff’s officials said at the time.
Milo Wallace lived with his mother. Matthew Wallace had driven to the house earlier that day to help with some work that needed to be done. Matthew Wallace did not return home that afternoon, so his wife drove to the Rocky Ridge Road home. Sheriff’s officials said she brought along her brother because there was tension between the Wallace brothers over the future inheritance of the family property.
Prosecutors said Warner told dispatchers she arrived at the home looking for husband when her brother-in-law pulled out a gun and pointed it in her face. A struggled ensued and Warner and her brother subdued Milo Wallace, taking away the gun, and detained him until deputies arrived.
Deputies found Sandra Wallace dead in her bedroom from a single gunshot wound and Matthew Wallace dead in the back of the property. He had suffered two gunshot wounds, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said evidence was presented in the trial indicating Milo Wallace was in possession of the weapons used in both homicides. Deputy District Attorney Casey Mandrell prosecuted the case against Wallace.
