Yuba City police investigate shooting that kills man; wounded female shows up at hospital

A man was killed and a woman was wounded Sunday night in a shooting near the Sutter County Airport in Yuba City.

About 8 p.m., police dispatchers received several calls reporting a shooting that had just occurred in the 300 block of Monterey Avenue, just west of Garden Highway. Officers arrived in the area and found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the Yuba City Police Department announced Monday in a news release.

Police said officers provided immediate care to the wounded man until medics arrived. The man was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

As officers were heading to the incident, dispatchers received another call from a female wounded in the shooting. Police said she went on her own to a hospital, where she was treated for a single gunshot wound.

The Police Department’s investigations unit processed the crime scene and gathered statements.

Police did not release the names of any other details about the two people struck by gunfire Sunday night. The department also did not release any suspect information.

Investigators asked anyone with information about this fatal shooting to call the department at 530-822-4661.
