Deputies found a Northern California man dead in a trailer. Here’s what happened
A man was found dead inside of a travel trailer in Willows, following what investigators suspect was a drug overdose.
On July 1, Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a property-owner who said he found two male subjects inside a trailer on his property, 200 Garden St. in Willows. When deputies and emergency medical services arrived, one subject was deceased and the other was experiencing a medical emergency, according to a Tuesday news release from the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office.
The subject experiencing a medical emergency, a 39-year old man, was taken to the hospital. The deceased was 28-year-old Jordan Windus of Corning, according to the release.
During the investigation, deputies found small amounts of methamphetamine and fentanyl in the trailer. According to the release, investigators determined that there were no indicators of foul play, but that the death appeared to be drug-related. The official cause of death is still pending the return of toxicology reports.
The release cautioned against the use of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid narcotic approximately 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times more potent than heroin.
“Due to the high potency of fentanyl, ingestion, or exposure to even an extraordinarily small amount can result in life-threatening overdoses,” the release read. “Depending on purity, ingestion of just two miligrams, the size equal to a few grains of salt can lead to an overdose.”
Authorities urged anyone with additional information about this investigation to contact the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Task Force, either in person at 543 W Oak St. in Willows or over the phone at (530) 934-6431.
