A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run Tuesday evening along a busy thoroughfare in Sacramento’s Elder Creek neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded to Power Inn Road and Andora Way shortly before 8:30 p.m. for reports of a vehicle-on-pedestrian collision and located a man with serious injuries, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The involved vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office on Thursday identified the victim as 56-year-old Daniel Saenz. No city of residence was listed.
