A Stockton man was charged with possession with intent to distribute after authorities found 83 pounds of methamphetamine and 8,800 pills containing fentanyl in his home.

Law enforcement officers found the drugs after executing a search warrant at the home of Gildardo Perez Avilez, 38, according to a Friday news release from the Eastern District of California’s Attorney’s office.

Officers found the meth packaged in 1-pound bags, along with counterfeit oxycodone M-30 pills containing fentanyl.

A federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment of Perez Avilez, charging him with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $10 million fine, according to the release.
