SWAT task force in Galt arrests two men including one suspected of homicide in Georgia
A man on the run from at least 15 felony cases, including a homicide in Georgia, was arrested Thursday night in Galt.
The Galt Police Department said in a social media post that Alantae Deshawn Richardson, 24, of College Park, Georgia, was arrested outside a home in the city.
Galt police said in the Facebook post that their joint SWAT team with the Elk Grove Police Department had assisted the U.S. Marshals Service in the arrest. Other details about what led to the arrest were not disclosed.
According to Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office jail records, Richardson was a fugitive from justice in at least 15 felony cases. Galt police said one of those cases included a homicide, but did not give further information.
In addition, Richardson faces multiple charges stemming from his arrest including possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a loaded firearm registered to another person. Jail records indicate the weapon recovered by police lacked serial numbers and included a large-capacity magazine.
Officers serving the arrest also arrested Dexter William Weeks, 33, of Galt on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as for a violation of parole.
Both men are expected to appear before a Sacramento County judge on Monday.
