Detectives arrested a registered sex offender in Sacramento County this week on suspicion of sexually assaulting two teenage girls, authorities said.

Aleksandr Antolyevi Rudenko, 26, was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail downtown on five counts of sexual assault involving two victims ages 13 and 17, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Rudenko faces charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, sodomy and oral copulation, authorities said.

Investigators determined Rudenko had been “habitually meeting minors online” using fake names and profiles on social media platforms, according to the news release. He is also “known to frequent public recreation areas, parks and movie theaters throughout Sacramento County.”

Rudenko was released from jail Wednesday in lieu of $135,000 bail and was due for arraignment in Sacramento Superior Court Thursday afternoon.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, sheriff’s officials said.

According to California’s sex offender registry, Rudenko has been a registered sex offender since 2019.
