Sacramento man convicted in 2018 rape of 14-year-old girl near Watt Avenue
A man has been convicted by a Sacramento County jury for the 2018 rape of a teenager, prosecutors said.
Jermine Hollie was driving down Watt Avenue in September 2018 when he saw the 14-year-old girl walking across the street, according to a news release this week from the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. He pulled into a parking lot and waited for her to walk toward his car.
The victim said no to Hollie multiple times as he continued to ask her to get in his car and go for a ride, prosecutors said. She eventually agreed, thinking she could get a ride home.
According to prosecutors, Hollie drove the girl to a small warehouse, where he told her that he wanted to have sex. The girl told him no and that she was only 14.
The girl tried to run away, but Hollie grabbed and threatened to choke her if she attempted to escape again, according to the news release.
Hollie eventually raped the teen, even as she begged him to stop, according to prosecutors.
After the assault, Hollie dropped the victim off across the street from the Children’s Receiving Home near Watt Avenue and Auburn Boulevard, the news release stated.
The girl told the staff about the assault, and they drove her to the hospital. DNA extracted during a forensic exam was a match to Hollie, prosecutors said.
Hollie faces a maximum sentence of 60 years to life in prison at his sentencing on Oct. 7.
