Rocklin man arrested after police say he purposely started fire inside apartment

A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly starting a fire in an apartment in Rocklin.

Rocklin Fire Department and Rocklin police responded around 4 a.m. Sunday to a structure fire at an apartment complex on the 5700 block of Springview Drive in Rocklin.

Rocklin police said in a statement that resident Mathew Schultz, 34, purposely started the fire. He was located and booked into South Placer Jail on a felony charge of arson where he remains in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Flames were quickly extinguished, Rocklin police wrote in a statement, and flames were isolated to one apartment.
