Three men arrested in fights at Woodland bar; one suspect had ghost gun, police say
Officers arrested three men after fights broke out at a Woodland bar, including one man found later with a ghost gun and another who punched a security guard in the face several times, police said.
The incidents were reported shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday at the Thirsty Goat bar at 102 Main St. Officers were called to the area near Main Street and Grand Avenue for a report of a confrontation at the bar that escalated when one of the men brandished a gun, according to the Woodland Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene, but the suspect with the gun had already left the area. Officers followed up on a tip about the suspect and spotted a vehicle that matched the tipster’s description.
Police said the officers searched the vehicle’s driver, later identified as 22-year-old Joseph Barrera of Yolo, and found him in possession of a 9mm Polymer80, a privately made gun also known as ghost gun.
Barrera was arrested on suspicion of possessing a ghost gun and other gun-related charges, police said. Barrera was booked at the Yolo County Jail.
While officers were investigating the gun brandishing at the Thirsty Goat, another fight broke out in which a security guard was attacked and had to be hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Michael Thompson, 25, of Woodland was arrested on suspicion of battery. Police said Thompson punched the victim in the face several times. Officers also arrested Fabian Cabrera, 33, of Woodland on suspicion of resisting and delaying an officer involved in an investigation at the bar.
