Homicide investigation shuts down Elder Creek Road in south Sacramento, police say

Police tape at crime scene

One man was shot and killed Monday morning in the area of Elder Creek Road and Stockton Boulevard in an unincorporated section of south Sacramento.

Police said the shooting happened about 3:10 a.m. in the 6200 block of Elder Creek Road. Responding Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced the adult dead at the scene. The man’s identity has not been released, pending notification of family.

The shooting is the latest in the city following a string of gun violence last week that left five people dead over a three-day span.

In a news release, the agency said the motive for the shooting was not known, and information on a suspect was not provided.

Elder Creek Road was closed for several hours from Stockton Boulevard to 65th Expressway as police investigated.
