Arson fire burns cellphone store on Fair Oaks Boulevard

A fire that burned a cellphone store on Fair Oaks early Tuesday morning was started by an arsonist.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District investigators said that the 2:30 a.m. Tuesday fire at the MetroPCS store in a strip mall in 6000 block of Fair Oaks Boulevard was well-involved when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Other parts of the strip mall were saved, although a vacant business unit next to the cell phone store sustained smoke damage.

A previous fire occurred at the MetroPCS store when it was situated in another spot in the strip mall. The store has changed hands since the first fire, according to fire district investigators.
