Police tape at crime scene

Police in Elk Grove detained two suspects accused of running from a stolen vehicle, but were unable to locate a third suspect following a search.

Officers established a perimeter in the area of East Stockton Boulevard and Bond Road, just east of Highway 99, the Elk Grove Police Department said in a social media post just after 8 a.m.

The department in an update just after 9 a.m. said it was able to confirm via surveillance footage that the two detained suspects had run from the stolen vehicle.

The third suspect fled before officers arrived and was not located, and officers broke down the search perimeter shortly after 9 a.m., the department wrote.

Officers located a firearm inside the stolen vehicle, according to the updated post.
