CHP seeks help finding vehicle that hit a man in fatal Sacramento County hit-and-run

Pedestrian fatality

The California Highway Patrol on Thursday was asking the public to help find a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that killed a man last month in southeast Sacramento County.

Kevin James Curry, 49, of Sacramento was the man who died Jan. 24 on Excelsior Road in the Vineyard area, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Shortly after 7 p.m., authorities received a report of a body down on the rural road, the CHP South Sacramento Area Office announced Thursday in a news release. Curry’s body was found in the northbound lane of Excelsior, just north of Gerber Road.

Officers determined a vehicle had hit a pedestrian. The CHP said investigators believe the vehicle is a 2016 or newer Dodge Ram.

The investigators do not know the vehicle’s color. The CHP said it most likely has a damaged passenger-side mirror and was heading north on Excelsior shortly before the body was reported.

Investigators asked anyone with information on the whereabouts of the vehicle or its driver to call the CHP South Sacramento Area Office at 916-897-5600 and ask for Officer Rakela or Officer Nelson.
