Two dead, two seriously injured after shooting in Sacramento County’s La Riviera area

Gunshot fatality

Two people were killed and two others seriously injured in a shooting Monday morning in Sacramento County’s La Riviera neighborhood, authorities said.

The shooting happened at a residence in the 2200 block of Rogue River Drive around 1:15 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi said.

Two people died at the scene, and two additional victims were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, Gandhi said.

On Tuesday, the fatal victims were identified as Jack Vernon James Jr., 59, and Vicki Lynn Bright, 66, both of Sacramento.

All four victims were found inside the residence, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies were notified of the shooting by an incomplete 911 call from an anonymous caller, authorities said.

Two other people without gunshot injuries were found inside the home when deputies arrived. Those two were held for questioning by detectives, according to the release.

Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to interview witnesses and gather evidence.

No arrests have been made, and no suspect information was immediately available.
