Granite Bay dental office victim of walk-in theft
A woman is suspected of stealing employees’ personal belongings from a Granite Bay dentist and a Vacaville beauty school.
The woman entered the staff lounge at the dental office of William D. Gilbert on Boardwalk Drive in Granite Bay on July 8 and stole personal possessions of dental office employees, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Dental office staff said the woman made off with purses, wallets, phones and keys belonging to three employees.
She is also suspected of stealing items Saturday from the Blake Austin College in Vacaville, authorities said.
Jolynn Canady, patient coordinator, said the woman entered the dental office about 3 p.m. July 8 during a staff meeting in the dentist’s office.
A female thief reportedly came into the waiting room and asked a patient if it was OK to use the restroom. The woman went instead through a door marked “Staff only.” The thief looked in a cupboard over the sink and then went through employee lockers.
She took one purse containing a wallet and cellphone. She also took wallets and a phone out of two other purses.
She fled out a back door and down the sidewalk, Canady said.About 5 p.m., employees noticed items were missing.
In the interim, the thief used a credit card to buy gas in Rancho Cordova and food at an In-N-Out Burger in Natomas.
The beauty academy was hit in a similar way Saturday. The woman wore the same outfit when she took a wallet from an instructor’s private office, according to a post on the beauty college Facebook page.
Anyone who knows the identity of the woman is asked to call the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, 530-889-7800.
