Shooting at downtown parking garage leaves one man dead, Sacramento police say
Sacramento police are investigating a homicide after a shooting left one man dead Saturday morning not far from where six people were killed and 12 were wounded in a mass shooting that happened a little more than a year ago.
The shooting reportedly occurred in a parking garage near 10th and L streets around 1:50 a.m. The incident was one block north of the state Capitol grounds and one block south of the April 3, 2022, shooting where gang rivals opened fire amid crowds of people as closing time came for the neighborhood’s nightclubs
The Sacramento Police Department said officers have learned two groups were in a physical altercation prior to Saturday’s shooting.
No arrests have been made and no suspect information was available, police said.
Since the 2022 shooting, Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester reportedly placed additional patrol officers downtown on Friday and Saturday nights. Officials and local business owners in the Downtown Sacramento Partnership installed additional lighting.
