Police tape at crime scene

A 21-year-old man was detained and taken to a hospital on a mental health hold after jumping a fence and making his way onto an airplane taxiing area Friday morning at Sacramento International Airport, authorities said.

The man hopped a fence along Power Line Road around 11 a.m. and made his way onto the tarmac, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi said.

He was quickly detained by authorities, and was cited for trespassing before being taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation, Gandhi said.

No flights or airport operations were disrupted by the incident, according to Gandhi.
