24th Street back open in Meadowview after Sacramento police contact armed suspect

Breaking News

Police were attempting to contact an armed suspect inside a vehicle Monday morning in Sacramento’s Meadowview area, closing a stretch of 24th Street to traffic for about an hour, authorities said.

The incident was resolved, the Sacramento Police Department said in an update to social media shortly after 10 a.m. According to officers, the subject involved had a BB gun.

Motorists had been asked to avoid the area, and 24th Street was closed between Florin and Gardendale roads, the department said in a tweet just before 9:10 a.m. The 24th Street Bypass was also closed.

The roadways have since been reopened.
