Police tape at crime scene

Police are investigating after seven people were shot Wednesday night in Sacramento’s Del Paso Heights area, authorities said, with all seven suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded shortly after 10:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting near the 1600 block of Grand Avenue, Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Cody Tapley said.

Police located one adult victim at that location and another a few blocks away near the 3000 block of Elm Street, Tapley said, which is across the street from Grant Union High School.

Five other victims, also adults, were located a short time later at a nearby hospital, Tapley said. All seven adults had at least one gunshot wound, none of which were believed to be life-threatening.

Tapley said the Police Department is actively investigating the incident and surrounding circumstances.
