Drive-thru ATM found scorched and pried open in Gold River, Sacramento deputies say
A Gold River Bank of America’s drive-thru ATM was reportedly vandalized and seriously damaged early Sunday morning, authorities said, prompting a response from a sheriff’s bomb squad and federal law enforcement.
Around 5 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office received a call about about damage to the drive-thru ATM on Gold Express Drive, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Amar Gandhi said.
The ATM appeared to have scorch marks and was pried open. Debris from the machine littered the driveway in front of it. Gandhi said it appeared that whoever caused the damage did not get away with any money.
Gandhi said the Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was on the scene around 10:30 a.m. and FBI officials were en route.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, and Gandhi said no suspect information was immediately available.
