1 man killed, 1 hospitalized in July 4 shooting near south Sacramento’s Bowling Green Park

One man is dead and another man was hospitalized following a shooting Tuesday in south Sacramento.

Deputies were called about 12:30 p.m. to the 4100 block of 49th Avenue near Franklin Boulevard, not far from Bowling Green Park, for reports of a shooting, according to Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Gandhi said; the second victim was hospitalized in critical condition. The name of the man who died is expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Gandhi said a homicide investigation was ongoing, but no suspect information was available.
