A teen is in juvenile custody after a stabbing Sunday evening in Elk Grove’s Old Town neighborhood that sent a man to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Elk Grove police on Monday said an argument between the man and the 15-year-old led to the attack about 6:40 p.m. in the 9200 block of Elk Grove Boulevard. Officers arrived to find the unidentified man had been stabbed several times. His alleged assailant fled after the knife attack.

Officers tended to the man until emergency crews arrived to take him to a nearby hospital. The man is expected to survive his wounds.

Police soon located the teen and booked him into Sacramento County Youth Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

Police on Monday said the man and teen were not related.
