A man was arrested early Saturday after leading officers on a high-speed chase through Wheatland and Lincoln, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The Wheatland Police Department notified surrounding law enforcement agencies about a vehicle involved in several hit-and-run collisions involving property and vehicles. Officers said they had attempted a traffic stop, with the driver failing to yield.

A pursuit followed south on State Route 65, police said, during which the vehicle sped up to 124 mph and without headlights on. Another traffic stop was attempted and failed.

The vehicle continued to flee, exiting State Route 65 onto eastbound Twelve Bridges Drive toward the Sun City Lincoln Hills area. The suspect came to a stop after crashing into a tree.

The male driver had a loaded shotgun on his lap and was disarmed, authorities said. He received care at Sutter Roseville Medical Center before being booked into South Placer County Jail.
