A man suspected in a deadly 2017 stabbing at a Sacramento apartment complex is behind bars on murder charges after authorities located him in Mexico.

Arturo Hernandez, 30, was the primary suspect in the Nov. 19, 2017 slaying at the Regency Apartments in the 5900 block of Riza Avenue. Hernandez, 25 at the time of the attack, was considered armed and dangerous, and the manhunt began.

“Sacramento Police Department detectives have been diligently investigating this homicide since it occurred,” police officials said in a statement announcing Hernandez’s arrest. He was taken into custody last week with the help of FBI agents and Mexico authorities, Sacramento police officials said.

Hernandez was handed over to Sacramento police July 22 and booked into Sacramento County Main Jail where he awaits a hearing Wednesday in Sacramento Superior Court.
